About Inwood Estates Vineyard
Dan Gatlin grew up in Dallas in a family that operated 25 beverage stores. As a professional wine buyer in the 1970s and 1980s, he was in a unique position to witness and participate in the coming of age of the California wine industry. Additionally, his position also allowed him access to the greatest wineries in France, often spending invaluable personal time with the most famous winemakers in the world.
In 1981, Mr. Gatlin became one of the first people to plant a commercial vineyard in Texas. It would take 5 vineyards and 30 grape varieties over 25 years before he would release his first wine. Today Inwood Estates’ wines are recognized as possibly America’s finest Tempranillo wines, and are served in 200 of the very finest restaurants in Texas.
In 2009, Mr. Gatlin also assumed the winemaking role for The Vineyard at Florence, and the first 5 wines were made exceeding all quality expectations thereby paving the way for the future of one of Texas’ top brands.
